Take a drive on highway 31 and you will see the breathtaking beauty of Ponderosa Pine forests, wild sage grasses, and the rugged Outback landscape of the Oregon High Desert. Situated at the base of Winter Rim and straight across from the Summer Lake Wildlife Viewing Area, you will find The Lodge at Summer Lake, and the delicious Flyway Restaurant. Your  destination for a relaxing weekend, or a vacation getaway.

The Lodge at Summer Lake offers you quiet, comfortable, and clean hotel rooms and private cabins that overlook our own fully stocked three acre Trophy Bass fish pond. Our newly built cabins are cozy and decorated with a bit of Northwest woodsy flair that include full kitchens, a comfortable living room, and your own private porch on the pond. Bring your fishing pole and you can actually fish right off the back porch of your cabin. With a bit of luck you might catch one of our trophy sized bass.

Our Flyway Restaurant offers a variety of Oregon wines and beer, and boasts a complete dinner menu featuring hand-cut steaks, seafood, chicken and chops. For a special treat try our Wild Plum Sauce on your pork loin. You'll love the delicious difference! Salads are made with fresh tomatoes, lettuce and herbs from our garden, when in season. Our menu also includes juicy, hand-pressed Angus burgers. We hand-make our own fresh buns, dinner bread and biscuits. Homemade desserts are made in the kitchen and include cheesecakes, fresh pies, and huge Billie the Kid fudge brownie sundaes!  Customers love our old fashioned home cooking!

The Flyway Restaurant also offers a full breakfast menu to start your morning off with a satisfied smile. Lunch can be enjoyed indoors, or we can pack a picnic for your outdoor adventure. Orders can be taken by phone ahead of time for your convenience.

Our Summer Lake community offers a great deal of enjoyable birding opportunities. Bird enthusiasts will appreciate the fantastic bird watching, with over two hundred bird species dropping by for your viewing pleasure.  Summer Lake's desert landscape makes it easy to see sandhill cranes, ibises, egrets, white pelicans and tundra swans. Our lodge pond also hosts various feathered visitors during the birding seasons. Guests have been treated to breathtaking displays of primping and dance, as these fowl feathered visitors displayed their various charms and style.

Wildlife viewing, hiking, fishing and horseback riding are also available for your enjoyment. For great advice on the best areas to visit, talk to our knowledgeable local staff. We also have maps and local information available in the lobby.

The Lodge at Summer Lake often hosts national and global travelers for family reunions, weddings and retreats, and can house up to thirty eight people. The Lodge occasionally plays host to large groups of up to one hundred and fifty people for receptions. We are able to provide in-house catering for your special event. Call us for more information.

We hope that you will make your reservations today.  Let us know how we can help you enjoy your high desert visit!
